Background and Experience

Carl is a partner with over 40 years of experience. He began his career in public accounting at Pannell Kerr Foster in 1974. Carl has an in-depth knowledge of accounting and auditing procedures and financial reporting requirements. Carl has extensive experience in many industries including real estate development, service organizations, hospitality industry, construction, not for profit, wholesale supply operations and retirement plans. Carl specializes in providing accounting and tax services to medium size businesses.

Background and Experience

Mike started his career in public accounting at the Atlanta office of Pannell Kerr Foster in 1980. In 1981, he joined the office of Peat, Marwick, Mitchell where he became a Tax Manager in 1983. Mike specializes in providing accounting and tax services to small to medium size businesses. He has extensive tax and accounting experience in the areas of construction, hospitality industry, real estate and service industries and retirement plans.

Hobbies

Mike enjoys snow skiing and golfing. He has traveled the globe in search of the best golf course and is a member of St. Andrews Golf Club in Scotland.

Background and Experience

Allison Milligan is an experienced CPA and founding partner of Vann Whipple Milligan, P.C. Prior to the firm’s inception in 2014, Allison worked with long-time partners and friends, Carl Vann and Mike Whipple, at Holland Shipes Vann, P.C. Her 25+ years of public accounting experience includes tax and accounting in many different industries including the areas of construction, real estate, technology, hospitality and professional services. She also has extensive experience in estate and trust tax work and manages many employee benefit plan and not for profit audits and tax returns.

Based on a deep understanding of her clients’ chief financial concerns, Allison employs a uniquely tailored approach to help clients minimize liability, maximize cash flow and achieve their long-term goals. She brings to the table an in-depth knowledge of business planning, financial structuring and revenue growth, and enjoys serving as a trusted business advisor to many small and medium sized business owners.

Hobbies

Allison enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters. She has fun watching the girls compete in numerous volleyball tournaments, swim meets and clay target meets year-round. Allison and her family are also actively involved in St. Peter St. Paul Episcopal Church, and enjoy camping and sailing together whenever possible.

Background and Experience

Rela joined Vann Whipple Milligan in November 2018 with over 25 years of experience in public accounting. Rela began her career at a small, local CPA firm in Atlanta and formed the firm Salmon Barton & Associates, LLP in 2010. Rela’s experience includes accounting and tax services for closely held businesses in a broad range of industries including construction, professional services, manufacturing, retail, and real estate as well as tax planning and preparation for individuals, estates and trusts.

Hobbies

Rela enjoys spending time and traveling with her husband and three children. She enjoys watching her children participate in a variety of sports activities and spends many hours at the soccer fields, baseball fields, basketball courts and swim meets. Her family also enjoys playing golf together when possible.

Maggie began her career in public accounting when she joined Holland Shipes Vann, P.C. in 2006. She joined Vann Whipple Milligan, P.C. upon its formation in 2014. As a manager at VWM, Maggie enjoys providing audit, review, and tax preparation services for privately-held businesses in industries including construction, distribution and non-profit organizations. She also is experienced in employee benefit plan audit services and health and welfare plan filings. She is a member of the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Maggie is a 2006 graduate of Valdosta State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting and Finance. She is a Georgia native and currently resides in Woodstock where she was raised. When not at VWM, she enjoys volunteering with the Junior Service League of Woodstock, traveling with her husband and spending time with family and friends.

John joined Vann Whipple Milligan, P.C. as a staff accountant in August of 2018 after earning his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Kennesaw State University in December of 2016. Before joining VWM, John managed finances for a small, entrepreneur in Sandy Springs. He is Marietta native and lives in the suburbs of Marietta. In his free time, he enjoys trail hiking and exploring the sites of Georgia. John is also an active member of the offroad club, Georgia Bounty Runners and an avid fan of all of Atlanta’s professional sports teams, especially the Braves.

Tom joined Vann Whipple Milligan in 2019. He began his professional career as a chemical engineer for 16 years, before going back to school and getting his Bachelors in Accounting Degree from Kennesaw State University in 2010. He worked for various other firms before joining VWM. Tom brings fun and laughter to the office with his funny jokes and good humor every day. He is a Maryland native and enjoys musky fishing, the outdoors, and rooting for the Las Vegas Raiders on fall Sundays.

James graduated from Georgia Southern University in May 2020 with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting. James is a Georgia native, and enjoys hunting, fishing, and playing video games in his free time.

Shalini joined Vann Whipple Milligan in 2018. She graduated from the University of West Ga in 2003 with a Bachelors in Accounting, and a Masters in Accounting in 2004. Shalini worked full time at CPA firms from 2004-2009, until she had her daughter. In 2013, she rejoined a CPA firm, working part-time. Shalini's experience includes tax preparation for individuals, corporations, partnerships and estates. In her spare time Shalini enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, baking and reading.

Amy began her public accounting career in 2003 at a local firm here in Atlanta. Amy joined Vann Whipple Milligan, P.C. in 2014 and works on a seasonal basis. Amy has experience in small business and individual tax preparation services. Amy graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelors degree in Accounting. Amy lives in Marietta with her husband of 20+ years and her four children. She is an active member at East Cobb Presbyterian Church and serves on the board at East Cobb Christian School. Amy enjoys reading, coffee, and quiet.

Kim joined Vann Whipple Milligan in 2018. With 10 years of administrative experience, she primarily assists partners Allison Milligan and Rela Barton with tax return processing, client billing, file management and more. Kim is very active in the USO and Mount Pisgah Church. In her spare time, Kim enjoys traveling, sports, and spending time with her family.

Faith joined Vann Whipple Milligan in 2020 and primarily assists partners Carl Vann and Mike Whipple. She performs tax return processing, appointment scheduling and client billing services.

Jordan joined Vann Whipple Milligan in 2020 and assists the partners with special projects. She performs tax return processing, appointment scheduling and client billing services. Jordan loves traveling, learning languages, and spending time with her family when she’s away from the office.

Trish has been with Vann Whipple Milligan since 2020 in the role of our office manager and assists with client billing and payroll services. In addition Trish provides bookkeeping services to many of our clients. Trish is a native who loves traveling, reading and spending time with her family and pets when she’s away from the office.
