Community Involvement

Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants

All VWM CPAs are members of the Georgia State Society, which provides numerous volunteer opportunities throughout the year, allowing us to share our abilities and give back to our profession and our community.

One such opportunity is the Society’s Financial Literacy Program, whereby members make presentations to students around the state on financial literacy topics including budgeting, saving and investing.

Rotary Club of East Cobb

VWM partner Allison Milligan is actively involved in Rotary – the object of which is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise. She especially enjoys participating in The Dog Days Run 5k, East Cobb Rotary’s primary fundraiser for community needs. Proceeds from the Dog Days Run support such worthy causes as: WellStar Hospice, Kidz2Leaders, Chattahoochee Tech Scholarships, Boy Scouts of America, etc.

Cobb Chamber of Commerce

VWM manager Maggie Hilliard and accountants Lisa Tweedy and Daniel Smith are members of Cobb Young Professionals – a group within the Cobb Chamber of Commerce that is dedicated to the promotion and encouragement of young professionals in the workplace. Each November, these young professionals volunteer to be a part of The Center for Family Resources “Thanks for Giving” campaign, which is a program that provides thousands of families in need with food items they can take home to prepare a Thanksgiving meal.

In the spring, Cobb Young Professionals participate in United Way’s Shoebox Campaign, which collects and distributes shoeboxes filled with toiletries to homeless women and children across the Greater Atlanta region.

Woodstock Junior Woman's Club

VWM manager Maggie Hilliard is actively involved in the JWC of Woodstock – an organization of women committed to improving our community through volunteerism and fund-raising. Each year VWM is a proud sponsor of the club’s annual Tour of Homes. The JWC also participates in such projects as MUST Summer Lunches and Habitat for Humanity Build in Woodstock.
